Billy R. Campbell, age 75, of Hayward, died Saturday, April 4, 2015 at his home.
Billy Ray Campbell was born February 19, 1940 in Bel Flower, CA, the son of Raymond and Virginia (Owens) Campbell. He attended school in Grand Prairie, TX. In 1959, after graduating he joined the U.S. Marines with his cousin Jim. He retired from the service in 1979 as a Captain. Bill was VERY proud of his military life. After retiring he worked for Douglas Aircraft. Bill moved his family to Hayward where he began managing the LCO Athletic Club for some years. He owned and operated the Countryside Bar up until he decided he wanted to enjoy his later years, relaxing and doing what he loved most…taking care of his yard, flowers and his springer spaniel, Hal.
He is survived by his wife Lana; children William, Deanna, and Paul Campbell; step-children Suzanne Smith, Clinton Price, Vicki Shibilski, Anthony Price Sr., Marilyn Ramsburg, and Reone Rusk; 10 grandchildren, one great grandchild, several step-grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bill was preceded by his parents, his first wife Norma Kathy (Corbine) Campbell, and special cousin Jim Campbell.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am Friday, April 10 at Pineview Funeral Service in Hayward, with Gary Hilgendorf officiating. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery, with military honors accorded by the LCO AMVETS Post 1998 and State of Wisconsin Military Honors Team. Visitation will be held from 10-11 a.m. on Friday prior to services at the funeral home.
Honorary casket bearers will be Art Dennison, Jan Fisher, Randy Fisher, Sylvia LaRonge, Tim Miller, Denise Nelson, Terry Nelson, Louie Nickence, Robert Radtke and Dennis Smith.
