Brittany Marie Tainter, age 35, passed away surrounded by loved ones on March 14, 2026, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Brittany was born October 1, 1990, in Racine Wisconsin, the daughter of Tom and Shelby (Taylor) Tainter.  Brittany attended and graduated from Altoona Schools.  Throughout her schooling she was very active in sports and music.  After graduating high school, she applied for and was one of only a few that was selected to attend the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities, College of Design in her pursuit of a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphics Design.  To get closer to home, she later transferred to UW Stout where she went on to receive her bachelor's degree in graphics design.

After college she worked in the insurance industry before realizing she missed her love of art and design, so she began her own business, Giizhig Design Company.  Here she created many company logo's and developed websites for various companies.  She was the brains behind transforming the pre and post Chippewa Flowage maps and wording onto t-shirts used by the New Post Committee during the 100 Year Flooding Remembrance.  Other major accomplishments were designing the branding for Northwestern University's Land Acknowledgement plus Great Lakes Inter-Tribal Council Programs and Akii-gikinoo'amaading Charter School.

Brittany loved adventure and found solace being in the company of friends. She was an incredible vocalist and never shied away from the mic on karaoke nights. She surrounded herself with fellow creative folk, spending many late nights dancing away and singing loudly at the blue Ox or Eaux Claire music festivals. Her love for art and design was often inspired by the world around her.  Nature was a place of life and joy and where she felt the most comfortable. Camping with loved ones and sitting around a bonfire or enjoying life on the Chippewa Flowage listening to the loons was Brittany's way of keeping herself grounded to the Earth.  She practiced traditional beading on top of being an artist and made many beautiful pieces that she loved sharing with friends and family.  Anyone she encountered had to know where she acquired them. "I make them!" she'd say. And from there although slowly, her jewelry would start to permeate to the folks around her community who loved and adored them so much.

Brittany was an advocate for many injustices across the world and made sure to center these voices in her work. Her soft and kind heart cared so deeply for so many, and that is one of the most admirable things about her. Even throughout her journey with this disease, bringing other people laughter and joy was how she found healing herself. She really knew how to make living on this earth special for everyone who met her.   She was loved by all who knew her and will surely be missed.

The family would like to extend our gratefulness to the Luther Hospital - Albert and Judith Dunlap Cancer Care Center and staff, Mark Thayer and other friends and family for the warmth and care and services you provided to Brittany during her battles with this awful disease.

Brittany is survived by her fiancé and love of her life, Seth Roberts, parents Tom and Shelby Tainter, siblings Donna (Michael) Miller, Tommy (Meagan) Tainter and Alyse Tainter.

Brittany was preceded in death by her grandparents Larry "Buck" and Shirley (Nickence) Tainter, Julia Cloud and Donald Jackson, and her uncle Larry Tainter and her aunt Sandy Taylor.
