Carol J. (Bennett) Herron, age 73, of Brainerd, MN, passed away Monday, January 2, 2017 at St. Cloud Hospital.

Carol Jean Herron was born December 26, 1943 in Superior, WI, the daughter of Frank Bennett and Lucille Waataja. She went to high school in Superior and later moved to Minot, ND where she graduated from Minot State University with a degree in Social Work. A consummate mother and homemaker, Carol loved spending time with her four children and eight grandchildren. Over the years, she developed a love for crafts, gardening, art, music, reading and teaching. Carol was a very giving person. Her giving and teaching of values extended past her children and grandchildren into many Head Start and early education classrooms. Carol will be remembered by her family and friends as a very strong and courageous woman – someone who touched the lives of many.

She is survived by her children Cristina Silliman of Brainerd, Angela (Trever) McKibbens of Brainerd, Grant Silliman Sr. of Brookston, Jolene Herron of Brainerd; grandchildren Michael Silliman, Charles Silliman, Anthony Silliman, Patrick Silliman, Brianna McKibbens, Mikayla McKibbens, Grant Silliman Jr., and Rylen Litchy; sister Mary Autio; brother Arthur Waataja.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents Frank and Lucille; brothers James and Phillip Bennett; sister Elizabeth White; husbands Michael Silliman and John Herron.

The Memorial Service was held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2017 Pineview Funeral Service in Hayward with Dennis White officiating. Visitation was held on Wednesday from 9:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
