Carol J. Leighton, age 71, of Waterford, WI formerly of Hayward, died Thursday, December 6, 2012 at Pro Health Care in Waterford, WI.

Carol Jean was born in Hayward, WI on June 25, 1941, the daughter of Francis and Elizabeth (Belille) LaRock. Carol was crowned Hayward Musky Queen in 1959 and had the honor of being on Wisconsin postcards. One postcard was taken by herself in a beautiful headdress. The other one was with her two sisters, Sandy and Joyce – "Beautiful Indian Maidens" was the title on the back of the postcard. Carol worked as a cosmetologist for many years. She was united in marriage to Jack Leighton and they had four children. Carol lived in Arizona for a few years before moving back to the Waterford area two year ago.

She is survived by her daughter Doris "Dori" Jean; sons Michael and Todd; grandchildren Mark (Shara), Leigha, Garett, Toni (Nick), Dylan and Jacob; great grandchildren Autumn, daughter of Mark & Shara, Lilly and Ava, daughters of Toni & Nick; brothers Jerome, Francis and Kenny; sisters June, Joyce and Cindy; many nephews & nieces.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents; former husband Jack; son Charles Mark; sister Sandy.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at Pineview Funeral Service in Hayward with Rev. Gary Hilgendorf officiating. Visitation will be held on Saturday from at 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
