Carol J. (Thrasher) Wolfe, age 72, of Stone Lake, WI, passed away peacefully, Saturday, April 1, 2017, surrounded by her family at the family farm where she lived her entire life.
Carol Jeanne (Thrasher) Wolfe was born April 18, 1944, in Hayward, WI, the daughter of Bob and Pearl (Boone) Thrasher. She grew up in Stone Lake, attended school there, and graduated from high school in Hayward, WI. She went on to graduate from UW Superior with a BA in elementary education. She taught one year in Rice Lake, WI. In 1966 she began teaching in Stone Lake where she taught for 38 years. Toward the end of her career she became the teaching supervisor for the Stone Lake Elementary.
Carol retired from teaching in 2004. After enjoying retirement for 5 years Carol decided to go back to work as a secretary at the HACIL Charter School in Hayward. She really enjoyed her job and worked there the last seven years of her life.
Carol gave life-long service to the Whitefish Presbyterian Indian Mission Church. Throughout her years of service, she served as Sunday school superintendent, Sunday school teacher, treasurer, board member, and pianist.
In 1966 she married Richard Wolfe. They have three children, Rick, Bob, and Angie, along with seven grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 50 years, Richard; two sons, Rick (Grete) of Stone Lake, and Bob (Tracey) of Eau Claire; daughter, Angie of Stone Lake; grandchildren, Kristin, Olivia, Bryce, Ethan, Bailey, Alex, and Alayna; sister Mary (Jerry) Grade of Stone Lake; and many nieces and nephews.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Bob & Pearl (Boone) Thrasher; and three nieces, Lisa (Grade) Sowell, Lynsey Beaudin, and Sarah Wolfe.
A celebration of Carol's life was held Saturday, April 8th at 12:00 p.m. at the Hayward Wesleyan Church in Hayward, WI. A visitation was held from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon prior to the service at the church. Pastor Tim Young officiated, with special speaker Kathy Cronk and music was provided by Jan Erickson and Vicki Guse.
Honorary bearers were John Boone, Joe Boone, Dennis Smith, Doug Wolfe, Wendell Wolfe, and Brandon Wolfe.
