Obituary

Carole Lee Kemp

Carole Lee Kemp, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026, at Water’s Edge in Hayward, Wisconsin. She was born on February 27, 1942, in Appleton, Wisconsin to Leo and Mary (Haen) Werschem of Kaukauna, Wisconsin. Carole lived a full and rewarding life, marked by her love of her family and community.

Carole is survived by her children: Lauri (Randy), Schoeder, Scott (Megan) Kemp, and Eric (Heather) Kemp. She was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Dale Wesley Kemp, her husband of 52 years, and her sister Betty Werschem Bayorgeon

An alumnus of Kaukauna High School, Carole worked as a secretary at Thilmany Papers for several years before she became a full-time wife and mother. She lived the majority of her adult life in St. Cloud, MN where she and Dale raised their children. They had many memorable summers and holidays at their lake home in Wascott, WI. In retirement, they eventually moved to Hayward, WI.

Carole loved warm weather and traveled to enjoy it. She traveled to Jamaica, Hawaii, and took cruises in the Caribbean. She spent many winters in Mazatlán, Mexico and Lake Havasu City, Arizona. In her spare time, she enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, cross-stitching, and puzzles. She also loved volunteering at the Northwoods Humane Society Thrift Store in Hayward, WI. This is where she met her wonderful community of friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in Carole's honor be made to the Hayward Community Food Shelf or WOJB Community Powered Public Radio.

Carole Lee Kemp will be deeply missed; may she rest in peace.
