Chester D. Loverude, age 84 of Hayward, WI, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale, MN.
Chester "Chet" Donald was born on August 15, 1927 in Barronett, WI, the son of Elmer and Augusta (Meyers) Loverude. He attended Granite Lake School and drove milk truck in his teens. Chet served in the US Army during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946. On November 16, 1956 he was united in marriage to Gail Zakzaska in Minneapolis, MN and they resided in New Brighton, MN. Chet drove truck for Kenosha Auto Transport and was a member of the Minnesota Teamsters Union Local #120 for almost 40 years. Chet and Gail retired to the Hayward area where they spent the past 20 years, and just recently moved to Maple Grove, MN to be closer to family.
He is survived by his wife Gail; sons Jeffrey, David and Mark; daughter Dana; nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren; sister Annice Hartman; nephews and nieces.
Chet was proceeded in death by his parents; his son Brian; and brothers Alvin, Lesley and Wayne.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, July 2 at Pineview Funeral Service in Hayward. Rev. Gordan Thayer will officiate with music provided by Gordon Thayer and Carol Sheehan. Visitation will be held from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Whitefish Cemetery in Whitefish, with Military Honors accorded by the LCO AMVETS Post 1998 and the State of Wisconsin Military Honors Team.
Honorary bearers will be grandchildren Jason Loverude, Danalle Ritzer, Jocelyn Loverude, Matthew Loverude, Nicole Loverude, Jenny Loverude, Brittany Ritzer, Brandon Loverude and Ben Loverude.
