Dan was born October 15, 1966, in Hayward, WI the son of Russell "Buck" and Ethel "Wob" (Nayquonabe) Barber. He attended Lac Courte Oreilles Ojibwe School, graduating in 1985. Dan went on to attend Haskell Indian Junior College graduating in 1990 with an AAS degree in Auto Mechanics. After college Dan moved to Onamia, MN and worked for the Grand Casino, then went to work at the Turtle Lake Casino before returning to LCO where he was self-employed as an auto repair mechanic. Dan grew up going to pow-wows and learned to Fancy Bustle Dance and later danced the traditional style. He loved to attend pow-wows and was active in practicing traditional methods of harvesting including tanning deer hides and wild rice processing. Dan's sense of humor and wit will remain in our memories, and he will be truly and forever missed.
