David C. Van Lyssel, age 36, of Lac Courte Oreilles, died Wednesday October 19, 2022.

David Charles Van Lyssel was born August 16, 1986, in Appleton, WI, the son of Martin Van Lyssel and Sharon Hammond. He grew up and graduated from Clintonville High School. David loved his boys more than anything in the world. His drive in life was to teach them and provide the best possible life for them that he could. David loved to hunt and fish and make sure everyone had food on the table. He owned his own business and would do anything for anyone that needed help, with no questions asked. David had a passion for riding motorcycles, exploring the lesser traveled paths, and just showing up for his friends and family; usually unannounced. He was a hardworking man, with the wit and sense of humor that would make a judge crack a smile.

He is survived by his parents; sons Rider & Riot Van Lyssel; brothers Adam & Kyle Van Lyssel; sister Sammi (Mike) Mauel & Kaylee Van Lyssel; nephews Cameron, Carter, Casen, Adrian & Mason; niece Kierra; many aunts, uncles & cousins.

David was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Mary Ann Belille; paternal grandparents Inez & Adrian Van Lyssel; sister Nichole Van Lyssel.

Tribal Funeral Rites began at 10:00 a.m. Sunday, October 23 ^rd , at Pineview Funeral Service in Hayward. Chato "Ombishkebines" Gonzalez officiated. Burial was in Historyland Cemetery in Hayward. Visitation began at 5:00 p.m., Saturday, October 22 ^nd , at the funeral home.

Honorary casket bearers were Charles Belille Jr., Mickey Belille, Stuart Belille, Dusty Morrow, Jimmy Smith Jr., Steve Thayer & Erik Ton.

Casket bearers were Storm Belille, Will St. Germaine, Daniel Gokee, Michael Hammond, Bradley Thayer & Jon Warder.
