Duane O. Isham, age 71, of LCO, died Friday, August 26, 2016 at Hayward Area Memorial Hospital.
Duane Oliver Isham was born September 30, 1944 in Hayward, WI, the son of Edgar and Pauline (Gokey) Isham. He attended St. Francis School and graduated from Hayward High School. After school Duane enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1963 and served until 1969. After the military he moved back to LCO and was united in marriage to Janet Sharlow on January 17, 1970. They resided in Eau Claire for 35 years before moving back to LCO. Duane worked for Northern States Power for 30 years, retiring in 2000.
He is survived by his wife Janet; sons Duane Jr, Robert, James & Dontay; daughters Kerry, Rosie & Doll; 17 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren; brother Dewey; sister Dorothea Cross.
Duane was preceded by his parents; grandparents Ben & Katie Gokey, Charles & Mary Isham; brothers David & Dale; sister Delia Bressette; mother-in-law Ellen Gordon; one brother-in-law; two sisters-in-law; one granddaughter and one great granddaughter.
Tribal Funeral Rites were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Big Drum Ceremonial Center in Lac Courte Oreilles with Bobby Williams officiating. Burial was in Historyland Cemetery with Military Honors accorded by AMVETS Post #1998. Visitation began at 5:00 p.m., Monday, August 29 at Big Drum Ceremonial Center.
Honorary casket bearers were Jeff Bressette, John Corbine, Tom Corbine, Cory Cross, Daniel Cross, Ervin Cross, Carl Isham and Dontay Isham.
Casket bearers were Dakota Drake, James Isham, Robert Isham, Terry Koxlien, Doug Potack and Dakota "Cody" Simmons.
