Duane R. Myhrvold, age 77, of Loretta, died Monday, July 3, 2017 at his home.

Duane "Butch" Robert Myhrvold was born August 4, 1939 in Beloit, WI, the son of Olaf and Margaret (Nehls) Myhrvold. He grew up in Beloit and graduated in 1957 from Beloit Memorial High School. Butch enlisted in June 1957 in the U.S. Navy serving on the U.S.S. Gregory. After the military he was united in marriage to Janet Jensen in June 29,1963 and worked for the Beloit Corporation until 1965, Butch then worked for the Town of Beloit Fire Department for 30 years retiring in 1995. On May 26, 1979 Butch and Cheryl Amundson were united in marriage they retired to Loretta in 2007. He loved woodworking, fishing, hunting, cooking and working with his brother George on small engine repair.

He is survived by his wife Cheryl; son Robert (Amy) Myhrvold of Stewartville, MN; daughter Kristine (Michael) Meyer of Gordon, Debra Kniffin of Janesville; step-son Michael Barney of Des Plaines, IL; step-daughter Brenda Barney-Smith of Bloomfield, IA; 14 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; brothers George Myhrvold and Gary Myhrvold both of Beloit.

Butch was preceded by his parents and his first wife Janet.

A Memorial Service was held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 14, 2017 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Loretta with Pastor Terri Blomberg officiating. Music will be provided by Kris Rankin and Janelle Martin. Visitation was held from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. There will also be a Memorial Service held at 11:00 a.m. on July 22, 2017 at the Town of Beloit Fire Station in Beloit, WI, followed by the burial in Floral Lawn Cemetery in South Beloit, IL.

Honorary Casket Bearers were Jonathan Barney, Dave Heath, Alex Kniffin, Brandon Meyer, Cliff Miller and Connor Myhrvold.
