Esther Pagel, age 88, of LCO, died Saturday, February 1, 2014 at Hayward Area Memorial Hospital.
Esther Marie Pagel was born December 17, 1925 in Chief Lake, LCO, WI, the daughter of George and Sarah (Baker) Wade. She attended school at St. Francis in Reserve. Esther then moved to Chicago and the Milwaukee area where she met and married Gerald F. Pagel, they then moved to Minneapolis. Esther moved back to the LCO Reservation in the late 1970's. She enjoyed growing flowers and taking care of her family.
She is survived by her children Jerry Pagel, Laurie (Lee) Goette, Wesley Pagel, Jeffery Pagel, Leland Pagel and Cheryl (Jerry) Staples; 17 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents George and Sarah; son Robert Pagel; brothers John Day Martin, Paul Wade, John Wade; sister Rachel Lawe, Margaret Wade.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 5 at St. Francis Solanus Indian Mission in Reserve with Father Gregory Hopefl officiating and music provided by Sister Felissa Zander. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery in the spring.. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 4 at Pineview Funeral Service in Hayward.
Honorary casket bearers will Lee Goette Jr., Michael Hammond, Jerry Pagel, Leland Pagel Jr. and Melissa Westerguard.
Casket bearers will be Dennis Brabbs, Lance Goette, Gary Gougé, Alan Pagel, Wesley Pagel Jr. and Paul Wade Jr.
