Evelyn Nickence, age 81, of New Post, died Sunday, June 30, 2019 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, MN.

Evelyn Viola Miller was born May 8, 1938 in Tunnelton, WV the daughter of Willard and Estella (Hershman) Miller. She grew up and graduated high school in West Virginia. Evelyn worked many different jobs and did vast volunteer work in West Virginia and Ohio. She was united in marriage to Mahlon Nickence in Cleveland, OH on October 17, 1959. Mahlon began and became LCO Fire Chief in 1987 with Evelyn working very close by his side. She was with the LCO Fire Department for over 30 years and was also a first responder. She loved to play bingo and loved her family.

She is survived by her daughters Michell Nickence of New Post, Valeria Nickence of Hayward; son Gordon Nickence of New Post; grandson Thomas Smith Jr., granddaughter Vala Quaderer Carley, great grandson Brett Dennis Jr., great great grandson Brett Dennis III; sister Nancy Potter of Itly, TX; many nephews & nieces.

Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents Willard & Estella; husband Mahlon in 2001; son Ronald Nickence; daughter Julia Nickence; and brother Harmon Miller.

A Memorial Gathering was held 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2019 at New Post Senior Center. Graveside prayers were held at 2:00 p.m. at New Post Cemetery with Father Gregory Hopefl officiating.

Honorary bearers were Vala Quaderer Carley, Wendy Coffman, Brett Dennis Jr., Brett Dennis III, Joe Post Grover, Jim Miller, Lawrence Smith and Thomas Smith Jr.
