FLORENCE SCRIBNER

Florence C. Scribner, age 91, of Hayward, died August 6, 2011 at Waters Edge Care Center in Hayward.

Florence Carrie was born April 15, 1920 in Denver, CO the daughter of Edward & Bertha (Liebhardt) Retalia. She graduated from North High School in Denver, then worked for a cookie factory there for several years. In August, 1943 she was united in marriage to Walter "Mike" L. Scribner in Denver. They moved to the Springbrook, WI area in 1946 where they owned and operated a farm until 1958. During that time they spent a few years in Hayward where they managed Radio Joes Motel, and Florence also worked for Willian Nursing Home in Hayward (currently where the Brooks Building is located). They returned back to the farm in Springbrook, where Florence spent her years as a homemaker raising their family.

Florence is survived by her sons Michael Scribner of Hayward, Randall (Kathleen) Scribner of Lampson, David (Gayle) Scribner of Hayward; daughter Kathy (Jim) Goldsmith of South Milwaukee; 12 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, one great great granchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Mike in 1997; brother Ed; sisters Violet & June.

A Memorial Gathering will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 14, 2011 at the home of Pam Dixon on Pfeiffer Road in Hayward.
