Gail L. Loverude, age 79 of Maple Grove, MN, died Sunday, September 25, 2016 at JA Wedum Hospice Home in Brooklyn Park, MN.

Gail Lorraine Loverude was born on July 16, 1937 in Spooner, WI, the daughter of Leroy and Lorraine (LaRonge) Zakzaska. She grew up in Spooner and graduated from Spooner High School in 1955. Gail moved to Minneapolis and worked for Honeywell. On November 16, 1956 she was united in marriage to Chester "Chet" Loverude and they resided in New Brighton, MN. Gail was a loving mother who worked as a homemaker raising and caring for her family. She also cared for several foster children. She was very active in her church and community throughout her life. Gail was a woman of great faith. Her Christian walk and love for Jesus reflected her lifelong dedication to helping others. She was a gifted cook and frequently shared that gift. She could brighten anyone's day as she was a great storyteller and genuinely loved people. Music fed her soul and it was a big part of her life. Even as a young child she brought enjoyment to many with her viola. She also enjoyed playing music and singing with her sister. Gail and Chet retired to the Hayward area where they resided for 20 years. In 2011 they moved to Maple Grove, MN to be closer to family.

She is survived by her sons Jeffrey (Nora), David and Mark (Heidi); daughter Dana; nine grandchildren, several great grandchildren; sister Carol (Ray) Sheehan; nephews and nieces.

Gail was proceeded in death by her husband Chet; her parents; son Brian.

A Celebration of Life Service was held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 3 at Pineview Funeral Service in Hayward. Rev. Virgil Amundson officiated. Visitation was held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial was in Whitefish Cemetery in Whitefish.

Honorary bearers will be grandchildren Jason Loverude, Danalle Miller, Jocelyn Loverude, Matthew Loverude, Nicole Loverude, Jenny Loverude, Brittany Ritzer, Brandon Loverude and Ben Loverude.
