Gary Grinnell, age 74, of Darlington, WI and formally of Winter, WI, died on Saturday, December 20, 2014 following an extended hospital stay.

Gary was born in Freeport, IL on April 26, 1940, the son of Harry and Alvina Grinnell. Gary attended Freeport High School and between the years of 1958 and 1962 served our Nation in the Navy on the USS Saratoga. After an honorable discharge, he married Patricia "Pat" Casford on January 11, 1963. Following their marriage, Gary farmed with his Uncle near Logansport, IN and in 1976 purchased the farm in Mineral Point, WI where he and Pat raised their children. Gary and Pat moved to Winter, WI in 1994, where he was active in the American Legion and Zion Lutheran Church. Gary enjoyed visiting with his family and friends, and often mentioned how truly fortunate he was to have them. He had a sparkling personality and zest for life that is rare. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his children Mike (Joyce) Grinnell of Mineral Point, Michele Grinnell of Independence, IA, Dand (Michelle) Grinnell of Darlington, John (Ashley) Grinnell of Minneapolis, MN; many grandchildren and great grandchildren who he was especially proud of and spoke of often.

Gary was proceeded in death by his wife Pat on October 1, 2012.

The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 26, 2014 at Zion Lutheran Church in Winter with Pastor Terri Blomberg officiating. Burial will be in Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner, WI with military honors accorded by the State of Wisconsin Military Honors Team.

Casket bearers are Steve Bailey, Dan Grinnell, Gary Grinnell, John Grinnell, Justin Grinnell and Mike Grinnell.
