GRACE BONGO
Grace C. Bongo, age 87 of Duluth, MN died Monday, January 9, 2012, at her home.
Grace Catherine was born on March 1, 1924 in Hayward, WI, the daughter of Joseph and Catherine (Rabideaux) Larson. She was raised on the Lac Courte Oreilles Reservation. Grace attended school in Hayward and Flandreau, SD. Grace has been a loving daughter, wife and mother. She enjoyed sewing and traveling all over the place such as Arizona, Fort Worth, TX, Cherokee, NC, Laughlin, NV, Kentucky and many other places. Graced lived in Milwaukee, Green Bay, Minneapolis, Las Vegas and Duluth. She was a very independent person with a spunky personality. Grace was always there when you needed help and was also very giving to her grandchildren. She would always do anything to help any of her family. She will be missed very much.
She is survived by her daughter Cicely Anna Dick; sons Dale Alan Smolinski, Keith Mathew Beechtree; sister Lucille Smart; grandchildren Pam Miller, Sherry Billyboy, Michelle Miller, Michael Aubid, John Aubid, Kathleen Aubid, Rueben Aubid, Lisa Smart, Kay Lynn Smart, Patricia Smart, Jennifer Smart, Anthony Smart, Ira Smart, William J. Dick, Rita Dick, Kalene Beechtree, Kyle Beechtree; many great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, great great great grandchildren.
Grace was preceded in death by her parents; son Michael Bongo; daughters Lois Aubid, Linda Smart; granddaughter Angela Quaderer; brothers Francis, Edward, Walter, Joseph, Archie, Leonard & Peter Larson; sisters Pearl Smith, Gennieve Belille, Norma Corbine & Lillian Jensen.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 13, at St. Francis Solanus Indian Mission in Reserve. Father Gregory Hopefl will officiate with music provided by Sister Felissa Zander. Burial was in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 13 at Pineview Funeral Service.
Honorary casket bearers will be Joseph W. Dick Jr., Jordan Gokey, Michael Jensen, Wayne M. Jensen, Stony Larson, Robert Radka and Dale Smolinski.
Casket bearers will be John Aubid, Michael Aubid, Reuben Aubid, William J. Dick, Anthony Smart and Ira Smart.
