Harold J. King, age 70, of Hayward, died Monday, October 10, 2016 at St. Luke's Medical Center in Duluth, MN.
Harold James King was born November 7, 1945 in Marion, IN, the son of Harold W. and Velmaray (Campbell) King. He grew up in Beloit, WI and attended school in and around the Beloit area. Jim graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 1964. In 1965 he married Mary K. Burns, together they adopted two children, Brandi King-Foster and James W.R. King. He worked at Yates-America, Pepsi-Cola, YMCA in Beloit, and New Concepts. Jim worked for the City of Beloit, starting on the street crew, city bus driver, Diesel Mechanic. When he retired he was supervisor of solids waste and snow removal. Jim retired and moved to Hayward in 2006.
Jim and Kathryn were married in 1981 and had one child, Jeremiah King. He loved the peace and quiet of his Northern home on the LCO Reservation, where he could watch deer and bears walk through the yard. Jim loved to watch the hummingbirds that came to his feeder and was an avid Packer-Backer. He enjoyed family gatherings, especially, King Ball and the Turkey bowl at Aunt Connie's. Jim was always larger than life and will be great missed by family, friends and all who got to know him.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Kathryn; children Jeremiah King, Brandi King-Foster, James W.R. King; step-children Merlyn Bennett, Jacqueline Bennett, Andre Bennett, Danielle Carley; mother Velmaray; brothers Larry (Sandi) King, Danny (Connie) King; many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jim was preceded by his father Harold; step-sons Louis and Jay Bennett.
A Memorial Service was held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 21, 2016 Pineview Funeral Service in Hayward with Rev. Gary Hilgendorf and Dennis White officiating. Visitation was held from 9:00– 11:00 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
