Helen Coons, age 90, of Hayward, died Monday, September 14, 2015, at her home with her husband by her side.

Helen was born February 21, 1925, in Honor, MI, the daughter of Robert and Kathryn (Madagame) Bailey. She grew up in Honor and graduated from Honor High School. Helen was united in marriage to Daryl Coons Sr. on November 22, 1947 in Napoleon, OH. Helen was a homemaker raising seven children along side her husband Daryl. "Mom" "Grandma" always encouraged her children and grandchildren to be the best they could be, wherever their paths would lead them. "Mom" was a great artist always wanting her art to tell a story. She loved talking and visiting with all those she met, seeing the positive in all. Those who met her, saw her as someone special. "Mom" was loved by all, family and friends, and admired by many.

She is survived by her husband Daryl Coons Sr.; sons Daryl Coons Jr., Gordon (Debbie) Coons, Guyon Coons, Timothy Coons; daughters Nancy (Michael Cavlan) Coons, Tessa Coons, Leslie Coons; six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren; sister Leona David of Detroit.

Helen was preceded by her parents; siblings Nicholas, David, Leon, Jess, Hank, Clarence, Raymond, Tony and Amelia.

Tribal Funeral Rites will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 18, 2015 at Pineview Funeral Service in Hayward with Dennis White officiating. Burial will be in Whitefish Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. Thursday, September 17th at the funeral home.

Honorary bearers will be Eric Crowe, Beatrice Hall and George Morrow.

Casket bearers will be Gary Aultman, Phil Aulwes, Michael Cavlan, Drew LaRonge, Jan LaRonge, Dennis Olson Jr., Gary Quaderer Sr. and Jerry Wicks.
