Julia A. Carter, 74, of LCO, died on March 18, 2013 at Hayward Area Memorial Hospital.
Julia Anne was born on November 22, 1938 in Hayward, WI, the daughter of John and Marie (DeMarr) Fleming. Julie had left LCO as a young girl and relocated to Southern California with her friend. Soon after they moved out of south central Los Angles and moved west to be near the beaches. She lived in Culver City near Santa Monica and Venice. Julie did have a career within the electronic manufacturing industries for TRW, and Rockwell. She was a line supervisor overlooking the quality and production of electronics for tools, automotive, aircraft and related industries.
It was here where she met her husband Garry Carter. Garry was a successful General Contractor in southern California. Soon after being married they lived with Garry's grandmother. Grandma Linstrom and Pop were very kind and loving to her. They played a big role in her walk with the Lord and becoming a Christian a servant of the Lord.
She worked until she could no longer work with her hands and was diagnosed with a severe case of Rheumatoid Arthritis (Around 1969-70). She was told that she would not be able to walk within 3 months, bed ridden 6 months after that and will probably not live more than one year or so. What did they know, about 50 years later, she passed.
Soon after Dove was born, they moved to Thousand Oaks and Westlake, CA. Dove in 1965 and Timothy in 1967. They spent several years moving around country due to the nature of the construction industry and the economic times.
It was during this time when she was most sick, the family moved around too much. Places like Colorado, Arizona, Wisconsin, Colorado, and finally back to California where Dove finished school prior to his time in the Air Force. During this time, she became very ill and had to return up home to the LCO Reservation alone with her son Timothy, to seek the medical care and family support she so desperately needed. After some recovery time, she returned to California with her son Timothy to be with her husband Garry. Shortly thereafter, Garry was diagnosed with Cancer and passed away in months. This caused her to return to her home here on the LCO Reservation to be with her mother and the care she needed so desperately.
Whereas Julia suffered more than any person I have ever known, she always put other people first, always put on a smile when she would rather cry, and tried to live her life every day in such a way that would be pleasing to our Lord Jesus. She would want people to see Jesus in her and not herself. I know Jesus said to her "Well done my good and faithful servant" when she arrived in Heaven and she is now "Safe in the Arms of Jesus!"
She is survived by her sons Dove Carter and his wife Natalie, Timothy Carter and his wife Kari; Her granddaughter Amber; grandson Star man "TJ" Barber; brothers John Fleming, Eugene Fleming & Floyd Fleming; sisters Delphine Quarderer & Agnes Fleming.
Julia was proceeded in death by her husband Garry Carter; mother Marie Fleming; father John Fleming; brothers James "Virgil" Fleming Sr., Arthur Fleming, Frank "Obie" Fleming; sisters Theresa Fleming Williams & Mary Rose Fleming Dickenson.
