Julia B. Martin, age 68, of LCO, WI died Friday, November 24, 2017 at St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, MN.
Julia Beth Martin was born on July 9, 1949 in Hayward, WI the daughter of Edward Martin and Mary (Gokey) Carley. She grew up in Milwaukee, WI and enjoyed playing Bingo, Keno, slot machines and listening to country and honky tonk music. Big Jude loved cooking for special occasions and spending time with her family. She was the 2016 Anishinabekwe.
She is survived by her son Edward "Bubba" Martin; daughter Teana Merrill; grandchildren Amy Alexnader, Taija Martin, Brandon Stevens and several other children who she was known as Grandma; brothers Eddy Boy Martin, Gerald (Chicky) Martin, Melvin Gasper, Donald Campbell; sister Anita (John) Begay.
Julia was preceded in death by her parents Edward & Mary; sisters Judy Martin, LuAnne Martin, Linda Martin, Mary Sue Merrill; brothers Alan Roy Martin and William Carley.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at St. Francis Solanus Indian Mission in Reserve. Father Gregory Hopeful officiated with music provided by Sister Felissa Zander. Burial was in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation began at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 28 th at Pineview Funeral Service in Hayward.
Honorary casket bearers were Veronica "Bunty" Burchfield, DeeAnna Campbell, Louise Chandler, Edward Conger, Mary Ann Conger, Nate Conger, Sparkie Eastwood, Joleen Gokey, Bodie LaRush, Gerald Malone, Frank Martin, April Quagon, Phillip Quagon and Gary Zentz.
Casket bearers were Anthony Conger, Mario Gasper, James Martin, Joshua Martin, Julian Martin and Clifford Penass.
