Karen Esther Espersen

Karen Esther Espersen, age 80 died Saturday, September 12th, 2026, at her home in Winter, Wisconsin.

Karen was born on December 12th, 1945, in Superior, Wisconsin, the daughter of William Girard and Margeret Flavia (Quaderer) Girard. She lived in Hayward, Seeley, and Winter Wisconsin.

Karen married Charles Walker Espersen Sr and had four children, two sons; Charles Espersen Jr, Gregory Espersen; and two daughters, Kathleen Espersen, and Mary (Lasieur) Espersen. Karen worked at the Super 8 and Riverside Motel until she retired in 2010 from Riverside. Karen enjoyed being a wildlife artist painting scenes from her hunting and fishing trips; mostly deer, bear, walleye and ducks. She loved fishing, camping, and deer hunting.

Karen is survived by her daughters and sons; brother: Gary (Lorraine) Girard; sisters: Rita Piper, Patty Girard, Fay Melby, Susie Girard, and Katie Kutzner; 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren as well as many nephews, nieces and cousins.

Karen is preceded in death by her parents William (Margeret Flavia Quaderer), and husband Charles Walker Espersen Sr; brothers: John Henry Girard, Daniel Girard, William Girard and Thomas Girard and Sister Roberta Louis Girard.

Celebration of Life will be held at Pineview Funeral Service beginning at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday September 22, 2026. Charlene Pearson will provide prayer over the food.
