Mary Wagner, age 80, of Winter, WI, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at Ladysmith Care Community.
Mary Ann Wagner was born October 4, 1936 in Burlington, WI, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (nee Holbus) Rahberger where she attended grade school and graduated by Saint Mary's High School. She enjoyed ice skating and roller skating. During high school and until she married Warren Wagner on May 2, 1959 she worked as a C.N.A. at St. Mary's Hospital. Mary was a stay-at-home mom until the youngest of six children was in second grade. She took a part-time job at a local department store until retiring in 1991. Mary enjoyed camping, horseback riding, canoeing and backpacking. She did not care for guns but shot a deer with a bow and arrow. Mary enjoyed scouting and was a very decorated leader having received seven Council Awards and nine National Awards, also she received all five Diocese and National Catholic Church Awards – The Saint George, Saint Ann, Bronze Pelican, Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Award, The International Awareness Award and the Life Saving Award. She also earned her 45 year Veteran of the Boy Scouts of American Pin. Mary enjoyed taking 19 Amtrak trips throughout the country and has camped in 38 States and eight Canadian Provinces.
She is survived by her husband Warren; children Michael of Fairbanks, AK, Rita (Walter) Hinz of Colorado Springs, CO, Gregory of Ladysmith, WI, John (D'Arcy Rocks) of Bolingbrook, IL, James (Rachel Rus) of Dixon, IL and Linda of Chippewa Falls, WI; brothers and sister Donald (Marge) Rahberger of Fountain Hillis AZ, Thomas (Carol) Rahberger of Waterford, WI and Carol (Marty) Wohlers of Appleton, WI; grandchildren Christopher (Elizabeth) Hinz of Colorado Springs, CO, Daniel Wagner of Clyde, OH, Ryan and Sean Wagner of Chippewa Falls, WI; many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Mary was preceded by her parents Frank & Elizabeth; brothers Francis and infant James Rahberger; sister Joyce Lois; brother-in-law; Christian Brother George Wagner F.S.C.; granddaughter Emily Wagner.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Radisson, WI with Father Dave Obert officiating. Music was provided Mary Ann Kernan. Burial will be in St. Peter's Cemetery in Winter at a later date. Visitation was held Saturday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to services at the church.
Casket bearers were her children Michael Wagner, Rita Hinz, Gregory Wagner, John Wagner, James Wagner and Linda Wagner.
