Norman J. Cody, age 80, of Couderay, died Friday, August 24, 2012 at Golden Living Valley of Hayward.

Norman Joseph was born in River Falls, Wisconsin on December 10, 1931, the son of William and Caroline Cody. He attended Spring Valley Schools where he graduated in 1950. Norm served in the US Army for five years as a paratrooper and was a proud member of the 82nd Airborne during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on March 18, 1955. Norm worked at Univac in St. Paul where he met his wife Marjorie "Jean" Anderson. They were united in marriage on June 28, 1958 in Couderay. In 1973 they moved back to Couderay where they owned the Hitch – N – Hoist bar for two years. Norm then worked at The Builders where he was a purchasing agent, then had several small jobs before retiring in 1982 due to a disability. He enjoyed mowing, fishing, hunting, watching sports, playing softball when he was younger, bowling and shooting pool. Norm was a member of the Couderay Fire Department, Army National Guard and Winter VFW.

He is survived by his wife Jean; children Bruce Cody, Becki (Mike) Shervey, Brian (Tonia) Cody, Bradley (Summer) Cody; grandchildren Joseph & Sarah Shervey, Bradi, Brianna and Barrett Cody, Karleigh & Karter Cody; sister Lorraine McCarty; brothers and sisters-in-law; several nephews & nieces.

Norman was preceded in death by his parents and brothers & sisters.

A Memorial Service will be at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 1, 2012 at Pineview Funeral Service, 9343N County Road K, Hayward. Deacon Jim Frederick will be officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Honorary bearers will be Gary Anderson, Del Anderson, Barrett Cody, Karter Cody, Vern Keith, Blane Senn, Joe Shervey and Mike Shervey.
