Phillip Hunter, age 64, Formerly of Lac Courte Oreilles, died Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at his home in Fond du Lac, MN.
Phillip was born on July 16, 1949 in Fort Francis, Ontario, Canada, a member of the Seine River First Nation. Brave Thunder was a leader among the Ogitchidaa Society, a Full-Blood Ojibwe Medicine man, Windigo Kahn, dream interpreter. Phillip served 4 years in the United States Navy earning the National Defense Service and Vietnam Service medals.
He is survived by his children Phillip Smith, David (Katie) Fleming, Misty (Jeff) Woller, Sunshine Hunter, Bezhigoogabawikwe Hunter, and Molly Hunter; 11 grandchildren; his former wives Melody Fleming, Paula (Chelsea, Dilllon) McFarren, and mate Roxanne Peterson.
Tribal Funeral Rites will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 22, 2014 at New Post Community Center with Larry "Gimiwan" Kingbird officiating. Burial will be in New Post Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by LCO AMVETS Post #1998. Visitation will be held beginning at 5:00p.m., Friday, February 21 at New Post Community Center.
Honorary casket bearers will be Al "Minode" Baker, Ken Featherly, Arlo Omaha, Dan Sullivan, Mike Taylor, Ron Winters, Joe Peterson and Dessie Gokey.
Casket Bearers will be Nick Featherly, Gegaayootayaash, Eric Haskins, Mike Sullivan, Jeff Woller, James "BJ" Bosto, and Gerald Novinski.
