Phyllis Marie Rynda, age 93, of Radisson, WI passed away peacefully, Saturday, July 26, 2025, at Marshfield Hospital in Ladysmith, WI, surrounded by her family.
Phyllis was born September 25, 1931, in Eau Claire, WI, the youngest of four daughters to Walter and Bessie (Melby) Spies. She attended grade school in Eau Claire, and graduated from Winter High School, where she met Ray Rynda at his baseball game. From that day on they were smitten. Ray and Phyllis were united in marriage on October 11, 1952, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Radisson, WI. Army life took them to many places during their early years. Their family was completed by 1970, and they moved back to Radisson in 1973 where they would live for the rest of their lives, making great memories and lifelong friends. Phyllis's hobbies included mostly her children, family get-togethers, cooking, gardening, canning, knitting, doing puzzles and predominantly praying. She prayed like no-other! Praying for friends, family or anyone in need.
She is survived by her children Susan Stewart, Debra (Steve) Ewert, Ann Marie (Randy) Thompson, Elizabeth (Bob) Nichols, Amy Rynda, Raymond "Bud" (Sheri) Rynda II, Daniel (Sue) Rynda and Kathy Rynda; 25 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren and one on the way. and three great great grandchildren. 69 total – what a legacy!
Phyllis was preceded in death by her husband Ray of 66 years; parents Walter & Bessie; and her three older sisters.
A Memorial Mass will be held 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 4, 2025, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Radisson. Father Sunil Kumar Thumma will officiate with music provided by Marie Ellickson & Sue Martin-Thompson. Burial will be in Radisson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. Monday, prior to Mass at the church.
Honorary bearers will be Christopher Stewart, Dale Ewert, Amanda Shimko, Jesse Nichols, Melissa Brockman, Sam Rynda & Kaitlin Mabie.
