Raymond J. Benton-Banai, age 50, of Lac Courte Oreilles, WI died Thursday, November 14, 2019 in Duluth, MN.
Raymond Judson Benton-Banai was born February 28, 1969 in St. Paul, MN the son of Edward J. Sr. and Delma M. Arrow. He was of the bullhead clan, 4 th degree Midewiwin. Ray was an amazing singer and dancer who loved ceremonies and powwows. He was a great story teller and sweat conductor and was great with the kids and was a awesome teacher to the youth. Ray will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
He is survived by his father Edward Benton Sr.; mother Delma Arrow; son Austin Benton, Cody Belisle, Oha Benton and Oday Irvine; daughters Ramona Benton, Charleigh Clause, Trinity Benton, Harmony Benton and Savon; brother John Edward Benton, Eddie J. Benton, numerous adopted brothers; sisters Linzy Lasley, Nathalie Benton, Sherrole Benton, numerous adopted sisters; sister-in-law Danielle Benton; many nephews, nieces and cousins.
Ray was preceded in death by brother Spirit Bird Benton and sister Nancy Benton.
Midewiwin Funeral Rites were held at 10:00 a.m., Sunday, November 17, 2019 at Three Fires Lodge Mide School in Cedar, WI. Three Fires Society officiated. Burial was in Historyland Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Saturday, November 16 th at Three Fires Lodge.
Casket bearers were Bird Benton, Ken Cloud, Beendige Deleary, Shkaabewis Deleary, Jason Henry and Chuck Petahtegoose.
