Raymond L. Quagon, 29 years old, of LCO, died Monday, March 16, 2015 at his home.
Raymond Louis Quagon was born April 3, 1985 in Spooner, WI, the son of Leonard Quagon Sr. and Charlene Barber. He went to LCO Ojibwe school most of his life and also attended South High in Minneapolis, MN his sophomore year and his senior year he attended Flandreau Indian High School in South Dakota. Ray was very athletic and played softball in elementary school, and basketball in middle and high school.
He worked at Fresh Start after high school, then worked at LCO Food Distribution. His most recent job was at Jack Links in Minong. Ray started as an Unloader then was promoted to an SAP position. Finally he moved up to a Smoke House Operator.
Ray met Candace Swehla in 2005 and they had three children Richard, Rayne and Reyauna. He liked to play Keno and gamble at the casino, loved spending time with his kids, his brother Leonard and his sister Melissa and their daughters and also his mother Charlene.
He is survived by his wife Candace Swehla; sons Richard Quagon, Rayne Quagon; daughter Reyauna Barber-Quagon; father Leonard; brothers Leonard Quagon Jr. Ahsinees Larson, Rob Edley; sisters Melissa Quagon, Shawnie Louis, Rhieanna Larson, Nichol Petit, Desiree Conger; nieces Alana Gougé, LaMina Quagon and many others.
Raymond is preceded by his mother Charlene Barber; sister Ashley Quagon; grandfather Dick Barber; great grandmother Mary Frogg; great grandfather Louis Barber; cousin Bic Dauphinas.
Tribal Funeral Rites will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 19, 2015 at Pineview Funeral Service in Hayward with Lee Staples officiating. Burial will be in Round Lake Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 18 at the funeral home.
Honorary casket bearers will be Alex Barber, Alton Barber, Derek Barber, David DeNasha, Monty Diamond, Joe Gougé, Stephan Milam, Kyle Spencer and Koonse Thayer.
Casket bearers will be Waylon Barber, Cory DeMain, Jeremy Quagon, John John Quagon, Larry Quagon and Dusty Wilber.
