Obituary

Richard G. Fuhrman, age 86 of East Fork Resort, Winter, WI, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, December 13, 2013 after a very brief battle with cancer.

Richard George Fuhrman was born October 1, 1927 in Chicago, IL the son of Frederick and Barbara (Sandrock) Fuhrman. In 1945 he enlisted and served during WWII in the US Coast Guard as Seaman First Class. Richard was united in marriage to his life's companion and wife Lanice on July 1, 1949 in Chicago. They moved to Wisconsin in April 1982 to operate East Fork Resort. Richard enjoyed snowmobiling, working on outboard motors, rock hunting, fishing, hunting, camping and wilderness canoeing. He loved to gleefully rub it in when he beat his daughters in a game of rummy. Richard loved to spend time showing his children and grandchildren how to hunt, catch trophy fish, canoe and find big agates. He will be remembered for the many pranks he played on family and friends, his mechanical aptitude to trouble shoot old outboard motors and the ability to tell a "tall tale" about his outdoor adventures. Richard was one of the first members of the Winter Huskies Snowmobile Club, a member of the Sawyer County Snowmobile Alliance and enjoyed grooming the many trails.

He is survived by his six children Judith (Gary) Meador of Mountain Home, AR, Janice (Thomas) Jahn of St. Charles, IL, Richard (Renee) Fuhrman, Patricia (Michael) Sanchez both of Winter, Jeanne (James) Carlson of Osseo, WI, Barbara (Robert) Thidemann of Thorp, WI; 15 Grandchildren Marisa, Robert, Michael, Laura, Melissa, Jessica, Kristi, Matthew, Ashton, Daniel, Justin, Madeline, Ryan, Holly and Caden; 10 Great Grandchildren Mikayla, Deven, Nicholas, Rydar, Lana, Skylar, Daniel, Livia, Liam, Jaxon and one pending; sister Sandie (Richard) Lacey of Las Vegas, NV; sister-in-law Virginia Dezell of Duckhill, MN; nephews and nieces.

Richard was preceded in death by his loving wife Lanice, his parents and great grandson "baby Kevy".
