Richard A. Wollwert age 74, of Hayward, died Saturday, May 12, 2012 at his home.
Richard Allan was born July 31, 1937 in Aurora, IL, the son of Felix and Helen (Vlasz) Wollwert. He attended East High School in Aurora, IL. Rich worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company in Montgomery, Il for nine years then was a carpet installer for 35 years. On September 17, 1960 Rich was united in marriage to Joyce Bertels. They moved to Hayward in 1981 where they attended Northern Lights Christian Center for 27 years, Rich served as a trustee for many years. Rich was also a beekeeper and his honey won blue ribbons for many years. He loved his hobby farm and over the years he raised beef cattle, pigs, rabbits and chickens. Every year he would plant a huge garden and was always looking for a new tree to plant. Rich was an avid deer and bear bow hunter and loved hunting with his son Ed. Rich loved learning and reading, and as a result he had an extensive library. Rich enjoyed working on farm tractors. Woodworking was also one of his passions.
He is survived by his wife Joyce; sons Edward (Leine) Wollwert, Thomas (Susan) Wollwert, Ronald (Paula) Wollwert; daughter Sharon (John Paul) Idarraga; nine grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and brother Felix.
The Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 16 at Northern Lights Christian Center in Hayward. Pastor Timothy Warner will officiate. Burial will be on the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery with military honors accorded by the State of Wisconsin Military Honors Team. Visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church.
Casket Bearers will be Don Bos, Jonathan Idarraga, Larry Kauffman, Tim Shomer, Luke Thorne and Steve Tripp.
