Robert E. "Buddy Gene" Barber, age 68 of New Post, died Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Essentia Health-St. Mary's Medical Center in Duluth, MN.

Robert Eugene Barber was born on September 16, 1945 in New Post, WI, the son of Louis and Elizabeth (James) Barber. He grew up and attended school there and lived his whole life in the New Post/Lac Courte Oreilles area.

He is survived by his brothers and sisters Rose Marie Burns, Gaiashkibos (Cora), Julie Ann (George "Max") Barber-Taylor, Denise "Hootie" (Terry) Barber-Nelson, Darryl Dean "Dino" (Carrie) Barber; many nephews and nieces; care givers Gary and Dawn Adams.

Buddy Gene was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Louis G. Barber and Dick Barber; sister Mary Lou Barber; nephew Bradley Barber; nieces Jennifer LaRush-Miller and Dancingstar St. John-Barber;uncle Simon James.

Tribal Funeral Rites will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 7, 2014 at New Post Community Center with Dennis White officiating. Burial will be in New Post Cemetery. Visitation will be held beginning at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, January 6 at New Post Community Center.

Casket bearers will be Robert A. Barber, Joshua LaRush, Art Mustache, Terry Nelson, George "Buck" Taylor Jr. and George "Max" Taylor.
