Robert G. Coon, age 57, of the Whitefish Community on Lac Courte Oreilles Reservation, passed away Thursday, December 10, 2015 at his home.
Robert "Bobtail" George Coon was born January 9, 1957 in Hayward, WI, the son of John and Isabelle (Quaderer) Coon. He attended school at St. Francis Solanus Mission and Hayward High School. Robert lived in Minneapolis, and Chicago for a few years, then moved back home to LCO where he was a tribal member. In later years he was employed for various positions. Robert loved being outdoors and he also enjoyed going to the casino to play Keno. He also spent a lot of time with his friends playing Cribbage. Robert's friendship was contagious, friends and family really enjoyed his company.
He is survived by his sister Sharon (Mike Marquardt) Coon of LCO; nieces Cheryl Hamilton & Valeka Kiutukcief and four nephews; several great nieces and nephews; and other relatives.
Robert was preceded by his parents; brothers John Coon Jr, Terrence Coon; sister Carole Elaine Coon.
Tribal Funeral Rites will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at St. Francis Solanus Indian Mission in Reserve with Father Gregory Hopeful officiating and music provided by Sister Felissa Zander. Burial will be in St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 5:00 p.m. Monday, December 14 at Pineview Funeral Service in Hayward.
Honorary bearers will be Sandy Carley, Faye Conger, Michael Marquardt, Dave Quaderer, Jacqueline Quaderer, James Quaderer, Rick Quaderer, and other loved ones.
Casket bearers will be Douglas Coon, Robert Coon, Ron Gokey, Daniel Grover, James "Jack" Hamilton, Kyril Kiutukcief, Timothy Stevens and Thomas Thayer.
