June 2, 1933 – April 15, 2018
Robert A. Woodbeck, age 84, of Hayward, WI died Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Hayward Health Services. He passed away from Lewy Body Dementia.
Robert Arnold Woodbeck, the son Edward and Dorothy (Thompson) Woodbeck, was born June 2, 1933 in the old Hayward Hospital and lived his entire life in Hayward. He attended the Hayward Schools until his college days at University of Superior. Bob served in the U.S. Army in Korea as a machinist and also the Hayward National Guard for a short time. He made life long friends while in the service and was still communicating with them, one in Idaho and the other in Iowa.
Bob was always known for his sense of humor and story telling, while at work or on the golf course. He had several good golf buddies and many friends that he shared coffee with at Coopers Restaurant every morning.
After college he held several jobs including driving heavy equipment in Two Harbors in the mines, deck hand on a Great Lakes ore boat and ending his career as a mail carrier and postal worker for 35 years. Bob not only delivered mail but he would shovel out mailboxes, bring groceries and medicine from town, deliver news and gossip from one resident to another, and made friends with all their dogs.
He is survived by his wife Nancy of 22 years; daughter Karla (Dan) Paolucci of Hollywood, MA; sister Roxanne Nicholson of Thief River Falls, MN; daughters by marriage Tysa Goold (Craig) and Jody (Steve) Longtine; sons by marriage Todd (Dana) Goold, Gary Klein, Greg Klein; nine grandchildren, Audrey, Chelsea, Britne, Arielle, Lindsay, Elena, Amaya, Rocco and Montgomory; six great grandchildren; two special nieces Rhonda and Beth.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Ed & Dorothy; previous wives Denise Vortanz and Phyllis Klein.
The family would like to especially thank the staff at Hayward Health Services who gave wonderful care, love and understanding to Bob.
