Robert L. Zett, age 83, of Winter, WI died Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at his home.
Robert Lawrence Zett was born March 29, 1933 in Draper, WI, the son of Michael and Florence (Wilson) Zett. He attended school in Draper and graduated from Draper High School. Bob was united in marriage to Marlene Van Winkle on September 4, 1954 in Medford, OR. He served in the U.S. Army as a medic for 30 years. Bob served in the Korean War and the Vietnam War and attained rank of CSM. He was stationed in Germany, Texas, Alaska, California, Illinois, Washington and Georgia. Bob received the National Defense Service Medal 1st OLC, United Nations Service Medal, Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, 5 Overseas Service Bars, RVN Campaign Medal, and RVN Cross of Gallantry. Bob retired in 1980. He was a member of the American Legion Post #303, DAV, LCO AmVets Post #1998 and Zion Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his wife Marlene; daughter Deborah (Jeff) Carney; sons Tom (Vickie), Jim (Kellie) & Jerry (Donna) Zett; daughter-in-law Linda Zett; grandchildren Tyler, Robin, Crystal, Giordan, Erich, Dillon, Branden, Austin, Michael & Eric; brother Lloyd "Buck"; sister Myrtle "Mae".
Bob was preceded by his parents; son Michael; brothers Clarence, Charles, Marvin, Roy & Richard; sister Violet.
A Memorial Service was held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 13, 2016 at Zion Lutheran Church in Winter with Pastor Terri Blomberg officiating. Burial was in Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.
