Russell "Pudder" W. Rusk, a resident of Fallon, NV and formally of Hayward, passed away at his residence with his family by his side on October 10, 2012.
He was born in Hayward on December 1, 1950, the son of John and Eunice (Mewhorter) Rusk. Russell played football and baseball for the Hayward Hurricanes in High School and graduated in 1968. From there he joined the US Navy and was stationed on the USS Midway, and after completion of his tours he was stationed at NAS Fallon in 1975. He met his true love Marcelle Y. Rusk in Fallon. Russell worked for Cypress Minerals Inc., in Fernley for 15 years and Nevada Cement Company for 26 years. He loved sports and was a huge fan of the Fallon Greenwave, and loved spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
Russell is survived by his wife Marcelle, son John S. Rusk; grandchildren Nolin J. Rusk and Mackenzee(GIG) Rusk; brothers John (Lucille), Ronnie, Robin, Richard (Faye), and Rudy; sisters Carole Rusk, Renee Rusk, Lori (Russ) Warwick; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents John "Thee Jack" and Eunice "Curly" Rusk; daughter Nichole L. Rusk; brothers Gerald "Carter" Rusk, Kenneth M. Rusk; sisters Alveretta Rusk, Wende Lou Rusk; nephew Derreck Paull; great niece Johnna Nichole Rusk.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday October 16, 2012 starting at noon at Smith Family Funeral Home in Fallon. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Interment will be held at 2:30 p.m. at the Northern Nevada Veterans Cemetery in Fernley, with honors provided by the Fallon VFW and American Legion honor guard.
There will also be a Memorial Gathering held from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 16 at Pineview Funeral Service in Hayward, with a Service and Time of Sharing at 3:00 p.m.
