Theodore "Ted" Nils Pederson, along with his twin brother, Fred, was born July 16, 1932 in Viking, Alberta, Canada to Nils and Bertha ((Voight) Pederson. He moved to Hayward in 1937 and graduated from the eighth grade at Clear Lake School.
He and Fred bought land with a sawmill on it but soon found out they didn't like mill work. They turned the land into a farm, and Ted found that he loved to farm. On May 21, 1955, he married Vivian Shirley Holcomb at the First Lutheran Church in Hayward. Ted served his country in the National Guard for seven years and drove a school bus for four years taking children to Lake School. He was a lifetime member of the National Farmers Organization, and he served as secretary and treasurer for its board for 15 years. Ted served on the Spider Lake Town Board as supervisor for 10 years. He was on the Spider Lake Cemetery as the president, secretary, and treasurer for 12 years, and he was on the Northern Lakes Co-op Board for 10 years.
Ted enjoyed skiing the Pre-Birkie and the Birkebeiner. He loved traveling with their 5 th -wheel camper and camping. Ted was an avid hunter, with many trophies to show for it. He also enjoyed fishing, trapping, dancing and the outdoors. His main saying was, "I love to work," and that he did. Ted has passed that love along to his children and grandchildren. He loved being around his family, especially his grandchildren and his great grandchild.
Special thanks to his doctors, nurses and the Regional Hospice for all the love and care they gave Ted and his family.
