Thomas Hammer Sr., age 48, of Stone Lake, WI died Monday, November 5, 2018.
Thomas DeWayne Hammer Sr. was born December 20, 1969 in Milwaukee, WI the son of DeWayne Sr. and Marjorie (Sharlow) Hammer.
Tom grew up in the Reserve Community of the Lac Courte Oreilles reservation but tended to move around often. He lived and worked in numerous cities including Milwaukee, WI, Bad River, WI, St. Paul/Minneapolis, MN, and Palm Beach, FL. Tom was an ultimate handy-man, a self-taught mechanic, and could find a way to fix just about anything. Everyone could call on him because he was a true problem solver and would always lend a helping hand. He had such an adventurous, fearless approach to life and nothing could stop him when he set his mind to task. No matter how many times he moved, he always made his way home to Lac Courte Oreilles reservation, where his heart belonged, to his children, family and Green Bay Packers. "We will always carry your memory in our hearts"
He is survived by sons Thomas Hammer Jr., Francis Hammer and Kaden Martin; daughters Jaymie Hammer and Jazzie Martin-Hammer; five grandchildren; brother DeWayne Hammer Jr.; sister Elizabeth "Nana" Knaack; niece Andrea Vonckx; and nephews DeWayne Hammer III and Helmet Hammer.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents Rita Lemieux and Walter "Bud" Sharlow; baby sister Vanessa; aunts & uncles.
Midewiwin Funeral Rites was held 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 9, 2018 at Big Drum Ceremonial Center in Lac Courte Oreilles. Keller Paap officiated. Burial was in Historyland Cemetery in Hayward. Visitation began at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, November 8 th at Big Drum Ceremonial Center.
Casket bearers were Red Coon, James Schlender, Jason Schlender, Justin Schlender, Nicholas Barber and Jordan Hugo.
