Wanda Mae Toews, age 83, of Rice Lake, WI, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2023.

Wanda was born November 3, 1940, in Hayward, WI the daughter of Raymond and Elizabeth (Butler-Gougé) Schmock. She graduated from Hayward High School in 1958. Wanda had an adventurous spirit, living in all four corners of the U.S. at one time or another, but mostly the West Coast. She was married for 25 years to William Toews and then divorced. Wanda was hard working, honest and believed in being good to others. She enjoyed spoiling her grandchildren, cats, sewing and told many stories of her Native Mom, Gramma and her farmer Dad.

She is survived by her daughter Xandrhi Beaulieu; stepdaughters Christine Mowery & Patricia (Michael) Small; granddaughters Victoria & Marina dos Santos; step-grandchildren Blair, Stacy, Stephanie, Michele & Nathan; brother Art Schmock; sisters Mildred Merk & Norma Ross; brother-in-law Francis LaRonge; many nieces & nephews.

Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; step-son-in-law Charles Mowery; brothers Roger & Eldon Schmock; sisters Yvonne Gregory, Sylvia LaRonge & Verna LaRonge; brothers-in-law Richard Merk, George Ross & Mike LaRonge; sister-in-law Judy Schmock; many nieces & nephews.

A Memorial Gathering was held from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. Friday, December 8, 2023, at Pineview Funeral Service in Hayward.
